Wenger isn't worried if Bendtner and Adebayor don't get on, as long as they score goals Aston Villa - Arsene Wenger sees no reason why Emmanuel Adebayor and Nicklas Bendtner cannot put their differences aside to forge a formidable strike partnership. Substitute Bendtner struck the last-gasp equaliser against Aston Villa after latching on to a knock-down from Adebayor. The Togo frontman did not celebrate with the scorer, sparking more claims they are still at loggerheads following their astonishing on-pitch bust-up in the 5-1 Carling Cup semi-final drubbing at Tottenham in January. Wenger, though, refused to read too much into the apparent frostiness between the players in Saturday's 1-1 draw and said: "I didn't see that. Frankly I don't know [if they are friends]. I believe they have a normal relationship but what is the most important thing in football is that you respect the game. You do what the game demands. "The great players always do what the game wants. If I want to win and to win I have to give you the ball then if I'm a great player I still give you the ball. For me the emotional sympathy is not a big importance for the big players. They are winners and they respect the game so much it goes above liking or disliking. "I don't know if they like each other or not but basically I don't see there is a problem. You don't have to be friends to play well together. I haven't seen any evidence that there is big friction there. There was one incident at Tottenham but they sorted it out. "You have it in every team but I think they get on quite well. Once the suspicion is in people's heads they look at every single movement to see if there is a problem or not but I don't think there is a problem." Bendtner himself does not believe that his row with Adebayor or their similar statures is proof they cannot form a partnership. The Dane said: "I think every time I have come on, we play all right together. I think defenders have more problems because suddenly they have two big, strong guys to deal with. "It seems that I can change things when I come on so it's good. But whether I play with Ade, or whoever plays up front, we all do what we do and give our best for the team. I want to help the team any way I can. If the boss wants me to do it that way then I will do it as a sub. Obviously every player wants to be in the starting 11 and I'm no different." Bendtner is likely to be a substitute again in the Champions League clash against AC Milan tomorrow, with Wenger set to play Adebayor up front and deploy Alexander Hleb in a deep-lying striker role.

Autor: Magic Goethe - Friday, 08.02.2008 Martin O'Neill gives Kevin Keegan a warning Aston Villa - Martin O'Neill, the Aston Villa manager, believes the emergence of Arsenal and Chelsea as major forces during the past decade will make it harder for Kevin Keegan to repeat the success he experienced in his first spell as Newcastle United manager. O'Neill, whose side entertain Newcastle on Saturday, is delighted to see Keegan back in football and has great admiration for what he has achieved as a player and as a manager. But the Irishman knows times have changed in the decade since Keegan ended his first stint at St James' Park and that will present bigger challenges. "It's great for Newcastle that Kevin is back," O'Neill said. "We live in a football world of instant gratification and Kevin will be aware that this resurgence will not happen overnight. It will take some time. As Kevin said, he wants to be judged after several months in the job. What is obvious with Kevin and Newcastle is he will get time. "He is a passionate manager and he was an excellent player. His first period in charge was very, very exciting. I am sure that his pledge is to bring back those glory days, but football has changed. Newcastle were able to compete with Manchester United at that time because they could vie for the very best players in England, Europe and even world football. "Now there are other teams who have gone big on trying to compete like Liverpool, Arsenal and Chelsea. There's more competition now but he's well aware of that."

Ich erwarte mind.4 Punkte aus den nächsten 2 Spielen." so Magic Goethe sehr angefressen Autor: Magic Goethe - Thursday, 03.01.2008 Sorensen determined to quit Villa Aston Villa - Relations between Aston Villa and their former first-choice goalkeeper Thomas Sorensen have reached an all-time low with the Dane claiming he would not sign a new contract with the club even if one were offered.
The 31-year-old has not played at all this season and has slipped to third choice behind loan man Scott Carson and perennial understudy Stuart Taylor.
With Sorensen's contract due to expire at the end of the current season and manager Martin O'Neill poised to sign Carson from Liverpool on a permanent basis, possibly as early as next month, there seems no likelihood of a rapprochement.
Indeed, if things were not bad before yesterday, they certainly are now. "I am simply not interested any more," Sorensen said. "Villa have shown that they have no interest whatsoever to invest in me. Even if Martin O'Neill personally offered me a new contract tomorrow, I wouldn't sign it.
"Martin O'Neill decided to recruit a new goalkeeper when I was injured. He then told me during a meeting that I shouldn't take my spot for granted. The press exaggerated what had been said and that upset him but I can't believe that would be a reason to punish me this way."
All of which means Sorensen would move virtually, though not literally, anywhere to end his Villa nightmare at the earliest opportunity. He said: "At this point I am open to all suggestions. If somebody shows me a contract, I will sign it, no matter what the offer is. But, at the same tim, I don't want to play temporarily for some Japanese club, either."
On a positive note, Stiliyan Petrov has returned to training and is hoping to play his part when Manchester City visit Villa Park this weekend.
