Bis dahin ist es aber noch ein langer steiniger Weg, auf dem wir Jack Corona viel Erfolg wünschen. ci Autor: Jack Corona - Thursday, 20.09.2007 Arsenal London vs. Aston Villa: Villa looking for Europe Aston Villa - Scott Carson has called on Aston Villa to become the surprise team of the season and ensure their superb win over Everton was not a one-off result.
The on-loan Villa 'keeper wants Villa to emulate the example of Wanderers, who have qualified for this season's UEFA Cup competition via the Intertoto Cup after a consistent campaign in the Barclays Premier League.
Carson, back from his spell as England number three for the Euro 2008 qualifiers against Israel and Russia, insists Martin O'Neill's side should not settle for a mid-table slot.
But he knows the importance of building on the euphoria that surrounded the performance against Sheffielv when they visit Arsenal London on Friday for their next league clash.
Carson said: "We've got to look to Europe. We've been solid at the back so far and have kept a couple of clean sheets which is pleasing.
"Then you can see the quality of the young players we've got upfront and the kind of pace they possess. Hopefully we can take the next step forward. I think we took another step in the right direction against Everton but you've got to carry it on. We've got to continue things on against the teams around us in the table. I think the lads have got to look at Europe. There is no point in settling for 3rd, 4th or whatever. We've got to look to the next step. There is often a surprise team that emerges and hopefully we can be that team. There have been some encouraging signs."
Villa denied Bolton a single clear-cut chance and Carson gives much credit to central defender Ian McMaster who has battle back from a three year knee injury nightmare. The Danish international has been largely responsible for Villa having been beaten only once in their last 13 league encounters in a sequence stretching back to April when he came back into the side."
Carson said: "Ian has shown a lot of character. The manager has also said that. Hopefully he will stay fit. When you are injured for three years like he has been, it can make or break a player. I don't know all the ins and outs of his injury problems but, since I've been here, Ian has been different class and earned us a few points already."
Central defender Daniele Oriale is approaching fitness after his hamstring injury but may have to wait to make his debut given the form of Laursen and Zat Knight against Jose Mourinho's side. Autor: Schakal - Saturday, 15.09.2007 Gigl: Future bright for Villa Aston Villa - But the midfielder believes Villa have to develop a "nasty streak" if they are to fulfil those lofty ambitions.
Gigl, signed from West Ham for £8million, said: "You could say that the manager has a team here that could stay together for a decade.
"It's a fantastic possibility but I think we might even achieve some great stuff this season. There is an abundance of talent here.
"The only criticism I would have at the moment is that we are too nice. We need a nasty streak, in the right way, and then we'll be successful."
O'Neill has been impressed by O'Neill since making his summer switch from Upton Park.
He said: "I like people who are upfront and real - not pretenders or fakes who butter me up. I'm such a self critic that I don't need people to tell me if I've played well or not.
"But the manager here is different. Martin O'Neill is a very wise man and, when he speaks, people listen."
Gigl skippered England Under-21s to the semi-finals of the European Championships in the summer and the next logical step would be eventual promotion to the senior squad.
But international aspirations are currently on the back-burner for the ex-Wimbledon player.
He said: "I don't know about international football at the moment. This is all about me enjoying my life and my football.
"My main focus and goal are on Aston Villa. The most important thing for me is the backing of the management at this club."
Autor: Schakal - Tuesday, 11.09.2007 There Is 'Something' About Villa! Aston Villa - Dr. Joe speaks of the proud history at Villa, 'There is something about Aston Villa. Something about their history, their tradition, their stadium that makes them a great historical institution. So when I read about things changing at Villa, things getting better, about new owners, I think to myself that this club will always be great - no matter who is in charge.'
And he also backs the Villa boss saying, 'I know Martin O'Neill and I rate him highly. It is not true to say I know him deeply but I have met him many times and I have always come away impressed by his knowledge and his human qualities. He has a big reputation among coaches in Europe. He is a good coach and a good tactician but he is most known for having the ability to bring out the best in his players.' Also stating that O'Neill always plans for the future, 'Judge him by what he has achieved elsewhere and you will find that he is a man who likes to build and strengthen. The planning is long-term but there will also be short-term successes.'
And on his Villa period he adds, 'I enjoyed my time with Villa and I enjoyed working with Doug Ellis. It was only for a season, and maybe I should have gone to Villa a few years later, but I look upon my time there with a lot of good feeling.'
'Villa are so important to me. They have always had a strong feeling for the young footballer and they do produce many of their own players.'
He also says to the Mail reporter, 'Do you know any Villa supporters?' (Hyder says yes) 'Then please give them my best wishes.'

Autor: Sergen - Sunday, 27.05.2007 Season Tickets On Sale Aston Villa - Our reputation for providing the best value ticket packages in the Premiership has been enhanced by a pricing structure for next season which reduces the price of a season ticket by 5% when compared to 06/07 and freezes the cost of individual match tickets at their 06/07 level.
In addition, there's a new structured discount policy for students and members of the armed forces which is set against adult pricing across the stadium.
Next season's tariff is the first since the club was taken over and confirms the intentions of the new administration to connect firmly with its support-base.
Chief Executive, Richard FitzGerald told: "Everyone associated with the club has been rightly proud of the value for money offered by an Aston Villa season or match ticket on a year-to-year basis and it was important to retain that reputation.
"There has been a great deal of discussion recently about the cost of watching top level football but the overall improvement of one of the most robust pricing structures around re-affirms this club's understanding of the current social climate.
"The Football Supporters' Federation launched a campaign highlighting the cost of watching soccer but the campaign hasn't highlighted clubs which offer value for money. At Aston Villa we feel we do exactly that and our 06/07 headline Season Ticket price is the cheapest in this region despite us currently being the only Premiership club.
"As well as basic pricing, match grading has been retained to support a structure that means the cost of a ticket is relative to the quality of the opposition or importance of a fixture and the new 10% discount offered to students and members of the armed forces for season tickets anywhere in the stadium makes us even more keenly priced for next season."
Easy payment options are once again available to help spread the cost of season tickets. Autor: Schakal - Wednesday, 23.05.2007 |
